Before David went out to fight the giant, King Saul tried to dress David in his own heavy armor. It had a massive bronze helmet and a heavy coat of metal. David tried to walk, but he was wobbling all over the place! He said, “I can’t wear this, I’m not used to it.” So, he took it off. David knew he didn’t need to look like a king to win; he just needed to be the boy God created him to be, using his simple slingshot.

How to pray: “God, sometimes I try to act like someone else just so people will like me or think I’m cool. Please help me break the habit of comparing myself to others. Deliver me from the fear of what people think about me.”
How to pray: “Lord, forgive me for when I try to fix things using my own bad temper, lying, or bossiness. Help me to lay down those ‘heavy weapons’ and use Your tools instead: love, kindness, and patience.”
How to pray: “Holy Spirit, give me 100% confidence in the unique ways You made me. Help me find and use my ‘five smooth stones’—the special talents, kind heart, and gifts You gave uniquely to me to help others.”
