David had to hide away in a dark, messy, and bumpy cave called Adullam. While he was there, a bunch of people came to join him. These weren’t fancy heroes; they were people who were sad, in debt, lonely, and had messy lives. But inside that dark cave, under David’s leadership, God did something awesome. He changed that group of sad outcasts into an elite team of super-brave warriors! God never wastes a hard or lonely season.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
How to pray: “God, if I have any hurts from the past—like when a friend left me out, or when things didn’t go my way—please heal those wounds. Keep my heart soft and help me to forgive people who hurt my feelings.”
How to pray: “Lord, I pray against the feeling of running on empty. Whenever I feel like I don’t have enough energy, enough friends, or enough smarts, fill me back up with Your joy and reminder that You provide everything I need.”
How to pray: “Holy Spirit, change how I see myself! Take away the sad ‘poor me’ mindset and dress me in the dignity of a true follower of Jesus. Remind me that even in dark or hard times, You are training me to be strong.”
Give up talking about sad or frustrating things for the day. Whenever you feel like whining, turn it into a prayer asking God to give you strength
