Lent is when we remember Jesus’ 40 days in the desert where He fasted and prayed before beginning his work for God. Lent starts on Ash Wednesday and finishes during Easter week with that last week known as Holy Week.
Our Journey to Easter starts with the lavish celebration of Shrove Tuesday and it is the perfect preparation for the season of Lent. Just as we clear out the cupboards on Tuesday to reset for the journey ahead, Lent offers us a unique opportunity to quiet the cultural noise that tells us to focus only on ourselves.
Our theme this year, “Give Up and Give Out,” serves as a powerful antidote to that self-centered narrative. To help us put this into practice, we are following the 40acts program by Stewardship. It is a fantastic way to intentionally develop a heart of generosity. You can participate by:
As we journey through these 40 days, we have a beautiful opportunity to engage with the Holy Spirit and allow our lives to be reshaped to reflect the character of Jesus. Real change often requires us to be intentional—so join us for this amazing Lenten journey.
Faith Through Action will be giving £40.00 to each Small Group.
Small Groups your challenge is how can you give that out as a gift either to church family, a person or group in the local community, or a national or international charity. You can add your own funds but decide to whom or what you would like to give out to. Time to be creative!
At the end of Lent you will have the opportunity to let the church know how you got on with your Lent Small Group Challenge.
40acts is a Lent challenge where our church can build habits, deepen faith and reflect the heart of Jesus through everyday acts of generosity, together.
Each day offers a simple invitation to give, bless and grow in generosity, one act at a time.
It starts this Wednesday 18 February.’ Join thousands of other Christians across the country taking part.
