Scripture tells us, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people” (Proverbs 14:34).
Thrones represent key positions of power within a culture that determine how governments rule, how judiciary systems function, how media and businesses impact society, and how educational systems shape the minds of future generations.
It is easy to look at these seats of influence from a purely human perspective. However, a biblical worldview reminds us that unseen spiritual forces actively seek to shape and influence these levers of society in ways that deviate from God’s original design. When those in leadership are not directed by the Lord or open to His guidance, they leave themselves vulnerable to spiritual influences that seek to hijack the cultural narrative.
As followers of Jesus—who reigns supreme above every throne—we have a direct responsibility to intercede and invite God’s intervention into our culture. In this session, we pray for Godly influences to be established in key positions and for ungodly influences to be expelled, that light may prevail over darkness.
“When the state demands what belongs to God, civil disobedience becomes a spiritual duty. Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.” — Dietrich Bonhoeffer (Pastor, Theologian, and Anti-Nazi Dissident)”
‘The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he guides it wherever he pleases.’ How do we allow our hearts to be like the king’s heart, directed and guided by the Lord
Question for Reflection:
How can we see beyond the physical politics and cultural thrones to become more discerning of the spiritual influences trying to shape us?
