PRAYER and FASTING

Session Three

PROVISION OF PROMISE

For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. 2 Corinthians 1:20

REFLECTION

In a world full of broken promises, trying to hold onto God’s promises can be incredibly challenging. So many lives have been devastated by unfulfilled promises: parents who broke their promise to love one another and wrecked the family; employers who let their staff down through mismanagement; politicians who looked after themselves rather than the community they were meant to serve; and church ministers who abused their power rather than cared for God’s people. Our world can make us weary of promises and lure us into believing they’re just empty words.

Yet, in Christ, we’re challenged to embrace a different paradigm. We’re called to trust in the promises of God, to embrace them, adopt them, and live our lives with the hope that He who promised is faithful. The biblical writer tells us that not some, but all of God’s promises are ‘yes’ and ‘amen’ because they find their fulfillment in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

QUOTES

True faith is never found alone; it is always accompanied by expectation. The man who believes the promises of God expects to see them fulfilled. Where there is no expectation, there is no faith.’ ― A.W. Tozer

PRAYER

As we continue to settle into this sacred time of prayer, let’s now intentionally embrace the magnificent promises of God. Take a moment to reflect on them, to truly grasp their power, and then to stand upon them with profound expectation! Let’s pray that our very hearts would be ignited, overflowing with a renewed sense of what God can and wants to do in our midst.

Now, let’s specifically pray for our church community, and for the wider body of Christ: that hopes and dreams, especially the fervent hope that our family and loved ones will come to know Jesus, will powerfully start falling into place. And for anyone among us who is believing God for a miracle, let’s pray for a mighty spirit of perseverance as they faithfully wait on Him.

For our wider community, let’s lift up a bold prayer: that God’s glorious promise to pour out His Spirit on all people will become a tangible reality right here in our town and neighborhoods. We pray for the Spirit of life to come, breathing new life into every corner, and that countless people will intimately encounter the radical love and saving grace of Jesus!
