We can so easily take for granted who we are in Christ because we are familiar with the words that describe who we are and yet we might not assimilate the words into our conscious lives and actions. In our journey through this week, we have looked at what it means to live without condemnation, and prayed about being free from the powers of sin and death. We have celebrated the joys of the Holy Spirit and mulled over the wonders of being adopted into God’s family and having God as our Father.
As we wrap up our prayer and fasting day, it would be good to reflect on the inheritance we have in Christ. We are heirs of God and co-heirs with Jesus Christ. It is the truth that came from our adoption, that is still resonating with our lives today.
The amazing truth is that Jesus died and came back to life and we know He is not going through that again. So as heirs of God, Jesus’ death has paved the way for us to live in his inheritance. So whilst we wait for the glorious return of Jesus, we can start enjoying the inheritance of the cross, fellowship with the Holy Spirit, fruits of the Spirit and the amazing gifts God has given us through his Holy Spirit
“Think of what you are, you Christians. You are God’s children; you are joint heirs with Christ. The ‘many mansions’ are for you; the palms and harps of the glorified are for you. You have a share in all that Christ has and is and shall be.” Charles Spurgeon
Take the opportunity to thank God for making us heir and co-heir with Christ Pray for God’s insight to grasp the depth of this truth.
Pray for renewal and a fresh understanding of this positional truth in our lives, and within the body of Christ. Pray that this truth will impact our understanding of self and also the mental well being of the body of Christ locally and nationally.
Pray for a move of the Holy Spirit in the life of the church and for God’s truth to have more and bigger traction in our lives. Pray that God’s heart for his church and for this season will be clear and captivate our hearts and more importantly pray that God will empower us to see his kingdom grow in our generation and for lives to be transformed through our ministries both to the church and wider
We are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.
Take a moment to process and mull over the reality of this truth
Make this truth a part of your daily journey today.
Think of things you can do that shows you are a child of God
