One of the mind blowing truths in scripture is the truth that God has not abandoned humanity and left them alone on a planet without any defence capabilities and vulnerable to spiritual forces that want to steal, kill and destroy human society. Jesus said to his disciples ‘I will not leave you as orphans’. God loves his creation and even when Adam and Eve sinned, God clothed and protected them. Jesus promised to send his Holy Spirit and that promise was fulfilled on the day of pentecost. There is a truth we sometimes ignore or forget and it is this truth. For over 2000 years the Holy Spirit has been with us here on earth. Seeing, hearing and guiding God’s church through the good, bad and ugly that we have inflicted upon ourselves and still the Holy Spirit longs to make us more like Jesus and reveal the Father to us.
“The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is the keystone of all our hopes. It means that the living God, the very Spirit who hovered over the waters at creation and raised Christ from the dead, is personally present within every believer, not just as an influence, but as a resident person. This presence guarantees our union with Christ and the ultimate transformation of our whole being, including our mortal bodies, to conform to His glorious resurrection.” J.I.Parke
Take the opportunity to thank God for the Holy Spirit and for his presence in our world and the active role he is playing in making God known to millions of people.
Pray that our church family and the body of Christ in our community will pursue fellowship with the Holy Spirit and learn to submit to his leading and guidance in all our activities.
Pray that we would see a manifestation of God’s promise to pour out the Holy Spirit on all people in the last days.
Pray for yourself, pray that you will experience a new and fresh encounter with the Holy spirit that deepens your love for Jesus and knowledge of God the Father.
The term orphan speaks of a time when those who are responsible for our human existence are no longer here. It means we have no physical access to them and all that is left is our memory of them. Jesus said to his disciples and the same to us. ‘I will not leave you as orphans’. This promise is still in place. Take some time to contemplate this truth and allow the Holy Spirit to remind you, he is here with you.
