Family and being grateful for the downs as well as the ups.
The saying you can choose your friends but you can’t choose your family, makes us laugh, because there is a ring of truth to it.
As Families evolve, Children grow up, life partners get chosen and suddenly there is a whole new dynamic in ‘my Family’. Someone else’s choices affecting ‘me and mine’. A different world view, ‘What do you mean there’s a different way of doing Christmas?!’
In the midst of all those adjustments, new influences and new relationships, it is important to remember that God does not make mistakes with those He brings into your orbit. You may REALLY not understand why this is even something you have been given to deal with.
God doesn’t give you any other plan, other than plan A. Whatever version of family you are in, this is plan A.
He is before all, and at the end of all, so being thankful in all circumstances is not fluffy, under the carpet or bury it deep denial, it is a path I will walk, knowing that in His time all will be as He sees fit, and I am so very thankful that in whatever part of the down or the up I am on, He is with me.
