Fighting the Good Fight

As we journey into a New Year we are conscious that all of our hopes and dreams, visions and desires, as wonderful as they might be, will face opposition from our own internal struggles, the world around us and also from forces of darkness that want to oppose anything that promotes God’s will for humanity and anything good.

Jesus said to his disciples as he explained the events leading up to his death and resurrection “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Jesus was honest with his followers. He wanted their faith to be birth in the reality of the struggles they will face so he told them trials and sorrows are coming but they should take heart and not be overwhelmed because He has overcome the world.

Jesus’ mission was birth in struggle. John tells us “…But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8

There is a battle raging between good and evil and anyone who wants to be on God’s side should be prepared for the fight.

This year our theme is ‘fight the good fight of the faith’ and as we begin the year we want to use that theme as the basis for our 10 days of prayer and fasting.

Our prayer is that God will prepare, equip, enlighten and envision us for the fight ahead believing that the victory is already won in Christ.
