PRAYER and FASTING

6am - 9am | Session One

LIGHT IN DARKNESS

The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. Isaiah 9:2

REFLECTION

I love the affirmative nature of this text. Those in darkness will see a great light, this is going to be a personal experience. Those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine, this is a communal experience. I love the fact that God starts with the personal and then moves to the community as a reflection of what God has already done.

Jesus said I am the light of the world. This is something we can confidently give thanks for today. The light of Jesus keeps on shining and that light is available to all people.

QUOTES

We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won’t need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don’t fire cannons to call attention to their shining- they just shine.

Dwight L. Moody

PRAYER

In this session we want to…

  • Prayerfully desire a deeper understanding of God’s love and thank him for His love.
  • Prayerfully thank God for his light in us and pray that our light shines in the darkness
  • Pray that God’s light continue to shine on his body the church

MEDITATE

God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. 1 John 1:5 –  Take time during this session to think about what this text says and how it applies today to your life.
