PRAYER & FASTING
Love the Truth – Father help us fall in love with your truth – John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
In this session of our prayer we are going to focus on loving the truth. Jesus is the truth, not just some abstract concept, Jesus is the embodiment of the truth and throughout today we want to look at his truth and pray for that truth over our nation and church and lives.
6am-9am Session One
I AM the Bread of Life
Overview: John 13-21 watch this video as an overview of the whole day
BIBLE
Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35
PRAYER
The people are hungry for the bread of life. Do not offer them a stone. Ellen G. White
We want to start our prayer journey by reaffirming our dependence on Jesus for life. We are grateful for the gift of Jesus by the Father and the role of the Holy Spirit in making Jesus known to us. In this session pray that God will:
- Grant you the humility to come to Jesus
- Show you how to eat and drink with Jesus
- Strengthen your faith in Jesus
Meditate
I am the bread of life: This implies there are other bread out there but they do not offer what Jesus gives. Think of what it would personally mean to you to feed on life.
9am -12noon
Session Two – ‘I AM the light of the world’
BIBLE
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12
PRAYER
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the brightest light and the only hope for this darkened world. – Dallin H. Oaks
We want to continue our prayers by acknowledging that most of humanity is not walking in God’s light and the state of our world today is spiritual darkness. We are grateful for God’s gift of light in Jesus. In this session pray that God will:
- Help his church to walk in the light of Christ
- Rescue his people who have succumbed to darkness and set them free
- Shine his light through us in all our interactions with people
MEDITATE
If you follow me… This implies we have a choice. Think of what our church community will reflect if we all made a commitment to walk in the light. What picture comes to mind?
12noon -3pm
Session Three – ‘I AM the Good Shepherd’
BIBLE
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep. John 10:11
PRAYER
It takes some of us a lifetime to learn that Christ, our Good Shepherd, knows exactly what He is doing with us. He understands us perfectly. W. Phillip
Keller
We want to journey ahead in our prayers by exploring the role of the good shepherd and praying that God opens our hearts to understand our worth. In this session pray that God will:
- Open our eyes to see His love for us
- Open our hearts to experience his grace over us
- Touch our spirit to feel his longing to save our world
MEDITATE
The good shepherd – This implies there are other types of shepherd in our world. Think of all the qualities of a good shepherd and apply those truths to your life and relationship with Jesus.
3pm – 6pm
Session Four – ‘I AM the Resurrection’
BIBLE
Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. John 11:25
PRAYER
The resurrection completes the inauguration of God’s kingdom. . . . It is the decisive event demonstrating that God’s kingdom really has been launched on earth as it is in heaven. The message of Easter is that God’s new world has been unveiled in Jesus Christ and that you’re now invited to belong to it.” N.T. Wright
We want to conclude our prayer journey by celebrating and thanking God for his amazing gift and sacrifice through Jesus and the confirmation of that sacrifice through the resurrection. God has launched his kingdom on earth because Jesus is alive: In this session pray that God will:
- Resurrect Hope within the body of Christ
- Resurrect Faith in the mission of the church
- Resurrect Love for God in our heart so love would be our guide
MEDITATE
Anyone who believes in me – This implies that the gospel is open and accessible to anyone. Think of all the people you know and engage and walk past and think of how through you God can make you a fragrance of Christ to them.
