5 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING
DAY 3
YOUR WORDS MATTERS
Pause & Reflect
The writer of proverbs states “the tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”. As human beings our words carry almost the same creative impact that God has because we are made in His image. Words wound and words also heal and words create thoughts that lead to actions and the words that generate the action will determine whether we move forward boldly or cowardly.
In our story David the shepherd boy’s arrival on the scene changes the dynamic of words that we hear. Whilst others spoke words of fear and a lack of commitment, David spoke words of faith and courage and engagement. He states “What will a man get for killing this Philistine and ending his defiance of Israel? Who is this pagan Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?” 1 Samuel 17:26
If the giant you are facing can get you speaking words of death over your life then he knows you are already defeated but the starting point of any victory over giants starts with how you describe and call what you see in front of you. David references the armies of the living God whilst Goliath references Saul’s army, you can already see the difference David is making.
